Maasmechelen village

I like car trips. I like shopping outlets. Hubby combined both to score "love me, stupid" points after a minor tiff we'd had the night before. Edouard, sensing that we were not going to Disneyland, bitched the whole way.

Maasmechelen village is neither quaint nor rustic. It is an artificial, aseptisized shopping mall devoid of any genuine charm; built to mimic a mountainside village. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the village. Getting a pair of Kickers or Petit Bateau t-shirts for next to nothing makes up for the tackiness.

Hubby took the wrong exit out of the village and we ended up in the Netherlands...five minutes later. Only in Belgium...
